Quarantine Guidelines

Newport's COVID-19 Guidelines

  • Current Quarantine Guidance from PA DOH:

A close contact is defined as being within 6 ft of an individual testing positive for COVID-19 for more than a cumulative total of 15 minutes in a 24 hour period. The most protective recommended quarantine period remains at 14 days after the date of last exposure to a person who is infectious with SARS-CoV-2.

CDC has presented options to follow an abbreviated quararantine.

HOWEVER, IN ORDER TO FOLLOW THE ABBREVIATED QUARANTINE, YOU MUST

    • Perform daily symptom monitoring continues through quarantine Day 14; and,
    • Persons need to adhere strictly through Day 14 after exposure to all recommended non-pharmaceutical interventions (e.g., masking, physical distancing).

In an effort to promote a safe environment and due to the school's inability to ensure strict adherance to all interventions such as masking at all times (i.e. mask breaks, eating), and physical distancing greater than 6 ft at ALL times (i.e. certain classrooms and bus seating arrangements) the district is unable to follow the shortened timeline guidance. We reccommend and will enforce that all unvaccinated indvidiuals quarantine for 14 days post exposure.

Please see the table describing unique quarantine situations/timelines. Please feel free to reach out to Nurse Forrest Weyandt, RN for more information at 717-567-2533 or at fweyandt@newportsd.org.
