    Background Information

Ø       After graduating from Lock Haven, I substituted, worked at the Weis Store, and babysat for a local family.  I then moved to State College and worked for the Central Intermediate Unit as a parent educator with the Even Start Family Literacy Program.  After a year, I moved back to Perry County and worked for a year with the West Perry Family Center, as a home visitor.  I then took the county civil service test, and worked for Cumberland/Perry MH/MR for the next five years as a case manager.  I had applied to Shippensburg to start working on my Special education certification, and at the same time, was offered a teaching position at Sylvan Heights Science Charter School, as a learning support teacher.  I taught at Sylvan Heights for five years, and during that time, I completed my Master’s Degree, obtained certification in Special Education, as well as gained experience teaching in an urban setting.
